Reflection: In today's discussion I think we got a lot accomplished. I think everyone is now on the same page and understands the whole "blogging" thing now. Also we discussed potential themes for our project and i think everyone is understanding the book better. Next discussion i want to have our group bring maybe rough drafts of descritions of the esssential themes so we will be more prepared to start putting out final project together. And also Morgan came up with a good thing to symbolize the themes for our display, which i think would be really good!
Ok on page 108 i found a quote that i thought to be very significant, and could give us another theme for our project. "Oh God, the terrible tyranny of the majority." I thought this was extremely important because it reflects how unjust circumstances can get when the majority (in this situation the government) takes control and has overpowered the minority, leaving them no power or opinion. what do you guts think?
Yeah morgan i agree with your themes, i also noticed those myself. I think the power of literature is a main theme also. If one analyzes our society, lituature has a huge impact on our culture and way of being. For example the patriot act allows the government to investigate what people are reading if they suspect someone of terrorist activity, which i think is okay to do, however i think in the book, it isn't a matter of protecting one's freedom and safety as the reason to why they ban books, it's just a power hungry government.
Ok hey guys. So i think we should all begin writing our own individual themes that we noticed in the book and prepare a piece for our final project and then discuss what symbol that we want to use to display our themes. Maybe by friday or next monday all of us could be finished with the book so then we could really get going on our project, hopefully before Morgan leaves.

Ideas For Discussion

Hola Amigos! Well, i have thought of some ideas and or topics to discuss during our next discussion.
-Image of fireman created in the book
- On page 34 the qoute, "First fireman. Benjamin Franklin- Established, 1790, to Burn English-influenced books in the Colonies."
- And another qoute on page 36 "You weren't hurting anyone, you were hurting only things... things felt nothing, things don't scream or whimper.. there was nothing to tease your conscience later."
Be ready to discuss these topics!!!
